Tomorrow the Costco January 2024 Hot Buys Coupons kick off! These deals will run from January 20th through January 28th. They will cover most of the gap between the January 2024 Coupon Book and the February 2024 Coupon Book. Don’t forget the special 2024 Super Bowl Ad will also be live at the same time, with that flyer valid from January 21st through February 11th. The January Hot Buys ad is pretty small with 21 regular deals. As always, there are some interesting items though. First of all, the One Degree Organic Rolled Oats are super popular with members, so seeing them as the first deal at $3 off will make many Costco members ecstatic. The deli item on sale this month is the Kirkland Signature Chicken Alfredo with Penne Pasta for $4.49 per lb. Surprisingly, there is no bakery item for sale, like we typically see.

The once a year Costco 2024 Super Bowl Ad is here! The coupons will run from January 21st through February 11th. This is also known as the “Big Game Savings” ad since the term “Super Bowl” is copyrighted. These deals will overlap with the February 2024 Costco Coupon Book which starts on January 31st. The Costco Super Bowl Ad is typically only handed out at the door. You will not get it in the mail. It features mostly TV’s because we tend to like to host Super Bowl parties and many people upgrade their TV’s before watching the Big Game. We count 30 TV deals in the 2-page ad. There’s also refrigerators on sale, sound bars, couches, chips and paper bowls. Pretty much everything you’ll need for your Super Bowl party. If we had to pick a TV we’d go with the LG OLED evo C3 Series – 4K UHD OLED TV in 77″ for $2,499.

Costco’s New Move: Membership Card Scanners at Entrances

Big news is stirring amongst Costco members today. The Costco in Issaquah, Washington is seen testing membership card scanners at its entrance recently.

Have you ever watched the person in the checkout line ahead of you get turned away because they don’t have a membership card that matches their ID? No matter how full their cart is, Costco employees are sticklers for making sure your ID matches your membership card (which they scan before they start scanning your items). Not only is it a big inconvenience to be turned away at the register, but also for the employees to put all those items back throughout the store!

The Issaquah, Washington Costco is right near the Costco Headquarters. Testing this concept of scanning your membership before all that shopping gets done seems like an obvious step that can save a lot of hassle for both members and employees.

Reading people’s thoughts online, it seems like most people are fans of the idea. No waiting in line for the conversation between employee and person trying to avoid getting turned away. And there are also valid questions and concerns around waiting time at the entrance to scan your membership and confirm it matches your photo ID. Other questions around gathering data have come up as well. Are they going to track the length of time you’re in the store and how much you buy? Is it to help with shoplifting?

Something to note is that one Costco member from the UK explained they’ve been scanning their card at the entrance for the entirety of the 20 years she has been a member.

The Costco January 2024 Coupon Book has some very exciting deals! First of all, the Orgain 30g Milk Protein Shakes are great! We reviewed them a few months back and were seriously impressed, and now they’re even a better deal at $7.50 off! The Orgain Protein & Superfoods Protein Powder and Kids Nutritional Shakes are both $9 off as well. If you didn’t know, Orgain is known for using healthier ingredients than a lot of protein powders and having exceptional taste. There are actually several protein powder and collagen peptides on sale because of the new year and Costco members focusing on getting healthy and back in shape. The Holiday Event 2023 handout is typically handed out at the door. It’s 4 pages long and features some tech deals and some items that are good for hosting Christmas parties. On the first page we’ve got a gaming laptop and some gaming chairs. There’s a lot of laptops on the second page as well. Some Costco members were pretty excited to see the Casper Select 12″ Memory Foam Queen Mattress for $150 off for a total of $449.99. If you’re hosting a Christmas party or family event then the Mini Quiche and Spring Rolls would make some great appetizers.
