Pretty much everyone we know loves cheese. Whether served on its own as a snack or included as a creamy addition to recipes, we’re always excited to try new varieties. When we learned that Treasure CaveⓇ blue cheese – America’s #1 selling blue cheese crumbles – are now available at Northeast and Midwest Costcos, we were intrigued and couldn’t wait to give them a try! Here’s our review and taste test.
We always like to start off learning about a company and what they stand for as part of the product review process. Treasure CaveⓇ has an amazing story. It’s the first blue cheese ever produced in America, originally developed and aged in caves discovered by a Wisconsin cheesemaker in the 1930s. To meet the demands of increasing popularity, Treasure CaveⓇ went on to build the world’s largest blue-veined cheese facility, still proudly located in Wisconsin and focused on sustainability (reduced energy use, water consumption, packaging use, & more). Their blue cheese is aged in quality controlled curing cells to ensure they exceed customers’ high standards.
It has been really fun to test out their blue cheese by making some of the recipes on their website, and creating some of our own. They have many recipes to choose from, including a delicious spinach, walnut and blue cheese salad, as well as more complex recipes for a heartier meal. These include, but are not limited to, burgers, sandwiches, meatballs, and many other delicious options.
I decided to try out a charcuterie board with their blue cheese and see how big of a hit it was with my friends. Treasure CaveⓇ was easily the star of the show! It is truly delicious, and was easy to pair with many different foods. This is not always the case with blue cheese as you might know. I even drizzled it with some honey, to add a slightly sweet flavor when mixing it with the other savory options on my board. It was a huge hit all around!
Each jar is filled with a large quantity of blue cheese. When you open the lid, you see lots of big chunks of blue cheese instead of a bunch of tiny crumbles. This makes it easier to cook with and easier to use.
Let’s talk specifics about the flavor. I was pleasantly surprised by the creamy, traditional flavor of the blue cheese, but without the bitter bite that blue cheese can often have. The high quality taste and aging process is evident in the delicious, smooth flavor.
What stands out the most about Treasure CaveⓇ blue cheese is that the taste on its own is delicious, but it also enhances the flavor of each recipe we made with it. And a personal favorite is the easy, unique addition it made to the charcuterie board.
Treasure CaveⓇ blue cheese is now available at Midwest and Northeast Costco stores. We absolutely recommend picking some up on your next trip to the warehouse and including it in your next recipe or charcuterie board!
