Costco’s New Move: Membership Card Scanners at Entrances

Big news is stirring amongst Costco members today. The Costco in Issaquah, Washington is seen testing membership card scanners at its entrance recently.

Have you ever watched the person in the checkout line ahead of you get turned away because they don’t have a membership card that matches their ID? No matter how full their cart is, Costco employees are sticklers for making sure your ID matches your membership card (which they scan before they start scanning your items). Not only is it a big inconvenience to be turned away at the register, but also for the employees to put all those items back throughout the store!

The Issaquah, Washington Costco is right near the Costco Headquarters. Testing this concept of scanning your membership before all that shopping gets done seems like an obvious step that can save a lot of hassle for both members and employees.

Reading people’s thoughts online, it seems like most people are fans of the idea. No waiting in line for the conversation between employee and person trying to avoid getting turned away. And there are also valid questions and concerns around waiting time at the entrance to scan your membership and confirm it matches your photo ID. Other questions around gathering data have come up as well. Are they going to track the length of time you’re in the store and how much you buy? Is it to help with shoplifting?

Something to note is that one Costco member from the UK explained they’ve been scanning their card at the entrance for the entirety of the 20 years she has been a member.

The Costco January 2024 Coupon Book has some very exciting deals! First of all, the Orgain 30g Milk Protein Shakes are great! We reviewed them a few months back and were seriously impressed, and now they’re even a better deal at $7.50 off! The Orgain Protein & Superfoods Protein Powder and Kids Nutritional Shakes are both $9 off as well. If you didn’t know, Orgain is known for using healthier ingredients than a lot of protein powders and having exceptional taste. There are actually several protein powder and collagen peptides on sale because of the new year and Costco members focusing on getting healthy and back in shape. It’s a good time to stock up if that’s you too! The tire coupon has switched back to Michelin and is $60 off a set of tires $899.99 or less and $80 on a set of 4 tires $900 or more.

Costco December 2023 Holiday Event Coupons Page 1

The next special Costco Holiday Ad is here with the December 2023 Holiday Event Coupons. These deals run from December 8th through December 24th. They overlap with the December 2023 Costco Coupon Book. These are essentially additional deals in case you didn’t have enough already. Some would make great Christmas gifts too. The Holiday Event 2023 handout is typically handed out at the door. It’s 4 pages long and features some tech deals and some items that are good for hosting Christmas parties. On the first page we’ve got a gaming laptop and some gaming chairs. There’s a lot of laptops on the second page as well. Some Costco members were pretty excited to see the Casper Select 12″ Memory Foam Queen Mattress for $150 off for a total of $449.99. If you’re hosting a Christmas party or family event then the Mini Quiche and Spring Rolls would make some great appetizers.

Starting today is the Costco November 2023 Hot Buys Coupons! The deals will run from November 11th through November 19th. These will run concurrently during the November 2023 Coupon Book as well as the Black Friday 2023 Ad. There are so many different deals going on almost the whole store will be on sale! To to get notified as soon as we release the December Holiday Ad then make sure to sign up for our email list too!

This is a rather small November Hot Buys ad with only 23 deals. Nonetheless, there’s a couple interesting items. The Amara Organic Yogurt Smoothie Melts seem extremely popular with moms that have babies, and at $4 off will likely sell a lot. We’ve long been fans of the Kirkland Signature Antibacterial Liquid Dish Soap, so we may pick up some more of that. The Dowdle Puzzles seem like a great Christmas gift, so at $2 off we’ll take a good look at those.

It’s hard to imagine but the upcoming Costco December 2023 Coupon Book has dropped! These Costco coupons will run from November 20th through December 24th. In order to display the coupons you need to click the link above and then you’ll be taken right to them. The first thing to note is that these coupons will be valid during Black Friday. Secondly, there is no gap between the November 2023 Coupon Book and this one. Lastly, the Black Friday 2023 Ad also overlaps with this coupon book. The Costco December 2023 Coupon Book is competing with a lot of other coupon books/deals. Therefore, we feel like the deals in it aren’t quite as strong as the rest of the year. Nonetheless, there’s still some deals worth mentioning. We reviewed the CJ bibigo Beef Bulgogi Mandu in the past and enjoyed them quite a bit. At $3.90 off that’s a great deal for a very filling meal. Secondly, our kids love the CJ Foods bibigo Cooked Sticky White Rice Bowls, so for $3 off we will be stocking up. There’s also some Phillips Crab Cake Minis for $4 off. Overall, you could say this coupon book focuses on appetizers for holiday parties among other things such as Christmas gifts. The tire coupon is Bridgestone again and is $60 off a purchase of $899.99 or less and $110 off a purchase of 4 tires for $900 or more.
