Tide Antibacterial Fabric Spray Review

Tide Antibacterial Spray

Christmas cleanup might be our least favourite time of the year. With the excitement of the season already gone, we’re left out on our own with months of cold and winter ickiness ahead of us. We spied Tide’s Antibacterial Fabric Spray in Costco’s cleaning aisle during our last visit, and with 2020 still on our minds, we didn’t hesitate to bring a couple bottles home. It’s quickly become a key part of our arsenal in our war against household germs.

The handy spray bottle is decked out in Tide’s signature colors, clad in orange with a royal blue top. The spray is not directly a laundry product, but it’s a great complement to your normal clothes wash routine and a great new tool for any other fabrics you’ll find around the house.

Tide Antibacterial Spray is certified to kill 99.9% of bacteria, including a slew of nasty stuff like salmonella and E. coli. A quick spray promises to eliminate the “yuck you can’t see,” sanitizing and ridding fabrics of odor-causing microorganisms to keep your clothes smelling clean and fresh between washes. It’s also versatile enough to be used on stuff you can’t throw in the laundry, like couches, rugs and curtains.

For such a comprehensive cleaning product it’s also a breeze to use. Do a quick spot clean, then spray it on generously until the fabric is damp (Tide suggests that you use enough that it takes five minutes to dry). Leave it alone while it dries, but you don’t have to take any crazy precautions—it’s non-toxic and safe if kids or pets get their paws on it. Afterwards, your target fabric will be good as new, with no residue or weird crunchy stiffness.

We’ve seen other sanitizing sprays before, but this is the first we’ve seen that is specifically designed for fabrics and soft surfaces. We thought that we’d mostly use this on clothes, and it’s definitely great for that. A quick application will easily give you an extra wear or two. But we’ve actually used it a lot more on all the other stuff we have around the house.

For example, it’s been a godsend for our kids’ stuffed toys, which get (literally) dragged through the mud and can never be washed enough, and pretty much anything our dogs touch when they come inside. We brought one out to the minivan specifically for a couple old seat stains and now it’s there to stay. The spray is just invaluable when it comes to those sticky situations that somehow come up every car ride.

Overall, we can’t get enough of this product. Beyond Tide’s special formula, the 3,000 five-star reviews on Amazon and all that technical stuff, it’s just great for peace of mind. Anytime you notice that Rufus has tracked new dirt onto the carpet or wonder why the kids’ stuffies suddenly have a new funk, you’re going to reach for this and feel a bit better about things. And for $11.99 for a 3-pack, that’s just a great deal.

Love this spray. It leaves a refreshing scent, better than Febreeze, plus it takes away the bacteria. Especially good for dog beds, etc.
