Kirkland Signature Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Kirkland Signature Shampoo and Conditioner

After a long wait, I finally received my free sample of the new Kirkland Signature Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner. So often I get free samples only to use them while traveling. This one, however, I opened right away. Reviews had said that it was as good if not better than expensive salon products. Plus, while it’s not a requirement for me to buy, it’s great that it is sulfate free, paraben free, 100% vegan, gluten free, had no animal testing and is safe for color treated hair.

A little background: I have semi-fine curly, highlighted hair that I wash every other day. I straighten it pretty much every day, which makes the color treated sections much drier with damage. I try to protect it and add more moisture by using serums before blowdrying and straightening. The challenge for me is to find a shampoo and conditioner that has the moisture needed for my curls and damaged hair, but that won’t make it oily.

My first impressions of the shampoo were that it was thick and creamy, unlike most shampoos I use which are more gel-like. The scent wasn’t amazing, but it wasn’t bad either. It didn’t lather as much as most shampoos, but it didn’t completely lack it even though it’s sulfate free. In all, it felt like it cleaned my hair and started the moisturizing process. It worked much better than the other sulfate free shampoos I’ve used (Organix and Burt’s Bees). The conditioner was close to perfect for me. It was creamy, almost pearlescent. It seemed to soak in much more than the Dove Go Fresh one I have been using (also sold at Costco).

The day after, my hair was still soft, but not oily. Or at least, not much more than normal. I used much less serum before blowdrying and straightening because my wet hair had retained much more moisture than before. In reading more about the conditioner has added UV protectants that “filter out the sun’s damaging rays.”

In the past, Dove has been my cheaper shampoo and conditioner of choice, particularly their Advanced Color Therapy lines. The Kirkland Signature Shampoo and Conditioner, however, surpasses them all. I am ready to ditch my Dove Go Fresh and stick with Kirkland. While the price is more than what I’ve paid in the past, it may just be worth it for what it did to my hair. Plus, it would last a good long while.

New shampo is about the same quality as the last one, just at twice the price.

I just tried this shampoo and conditioner and love it. They are very similar to the Pureology line of shampoos. It makes me wonder who actually makes the product for Costco.

I was thinking the same thing Jen!! The shampoo and conditioner smell exactly like Pureology Nanoworks!!! I think they work much better than Pureology shampoos!! My hair is always soft. I think Costco is working with Pureology, but they add some different ingredients.

It used to be Paul Mitchel but they had to find a new supplier. I know it is one of the professional lines.

I agree too and I probably shouldn’t be writing this but I was so excited when I discovered it: I thought this product smelled familiar so when I got home I fished my empty bottle of Nanoworks out of the recycling bin and sure enough, it smelled the same! The ingredients are basically the same too except in a slightly different order. For those who are unfamiliar with Nanoworks, it’s the top of the line shampoo from Pureology and sells for around $90 for a bottle this size on Amazon. Shhhhh about it though! As fans of Pureology we wouldn’t want the company to stop selling it to Costco because no one is buying Nanoworks anymore! ;o)

I never received my sample. I’m really tempted to try this, but I would’ve loved to give it a try using a sample first.

You could always buy it based on the good reviews and if for some reason you don’t like it they’d happily take it back.

This sulfate free combo is the BEST I’ve tried, and sulfate free products are extremely expensive. They are fabulous for your hair, I’ve used Enjoi, Pureology, L’oreal, etc and if they ever discontinue this stuff I will die. I am extremely meticulous about my hair 🙂

Got the sample in the mail, which took so long to get I forgot I had sent for it, but it was definitely worth the wait! It smells WONDERFUL! I have dry, ornery, mind of it’s own, curly/wavy hair and am always on the look out for the “holy grail” of hair products. I wash my hair every day (I know, I shouldn’t but I can’t deal with it after sleeping on it, I have to start over…) so I love the fact that it’s sulfate free, that’s important to me. The shampoo is very thick and creamy with great lather, something that is missing in most sulfate free shampoos. My hair felt soft after rinsing out the shampoo, even before putting in the conditioner. It was much easier to dry and style with much less effort than usual. And no frizz! I am sold after just one use! Project for tonight…find out how to order it on line as there is no Costco near me!

Warning: This product causes extreme allergy reactions in some people.

Severe burning of the scalp, and the perfumes they use sent me into a massive allergy episode.

I’ve never used a shampoo that has affected me this badly in the past. The worst I’ve had, prior to this, was mild allergies. This shampoo takes it to a whole new level.

Is this shampoo/conditioner safe for hair treated with the Brazilian Blowout? BB requires sulfate and sodium chloride free shampoo.

  8. […] Costco’s Kirkland brand of Shampoo & Conditioner: I haven’t tried this brand, but I’ve heard awesome things about it. Just an FYI as you make your decisions, I don’t know if it’s processed on shared equipment with gluten or not. […]

I finally tried the sample of Kirkland Signature Moisture Shampoo I received a few months ago. I normally love the Kirkland brand so I was really excited to try it. As soon as I opened the package I knew I was going to have an issue. The only other shampoo I have tried that is this perfumey, is the shampoo they sell at Victoria’s Secret; however, in that case, you expect it to be perfumey. This was WAY over the top and the scent is not even clean smelling. It smells like cheap women’s perfume. If scents trigger migraines for you, you will have an issue with this one. The scent is a cross between Bath & Body works Warm Vanilla Sugar and cheap musky women’s perfume. I cannot see a guy using this at all. I did jump in and try it thinking that the overpowering scent would rinse away, but for the whole day my hair smelled like cheap vanilla musk….Will NOT buy this ever unless they change the scent or remove the scent. It could be a fabulous product for my hair, but if it triggers headaches and leaves behind that awful smell, then I will stick with what I have.

I have had Briz. Blowout numerous times and Keratin….. I have used their shampoos and conditioners which are very expensive. I opted to try these two Kirkland products so I could compare them to the expensive suggested ones. My thoughts were : does the Blow out or Keratin still last as long, how is the quality of my hair post use and whats the product quality or feel, smell like.

Low down: Just as good with the results being actually equal to the very expensive brands suggested. Draw back is the Kirkland is so thick you need to use more to get a lather. Additionally its so thick I need to remove the pump and squeeze out of top. I would simply suggest getting rid of pump, the product especially the shampoo is just to thick to pump without exhausting ones self, just annoying.

Bottom line the savings can buy an expensive handbag or another expensive hair treatment. I like that only because the results FOR ME were exact. I can also say the cost is for me irelavant, I like to be a good consumer and can always use a new expensive handbag. While I use and re use the handbag my hair looks fabulous after using Kirkland.

I tried the kirkland moisture shampoo and conditioner too and I loved it. I wanted to purchase the shampoo and conditioner, however it was not available online at Costco. However, I just checked on Amazon.com and they have it a little pricey, but as stated in the review it might be worth it.

  12. Richard says:

I’m quite pleased with Kirkland moisture shampoo. Wish I could say the same with the remaining Kirkland products, but I can’t!

  13. I tried this shampoo and contitioner and just love it, work really good, just EXCELLENT!!!!! Now i sticked with Kirkland!!!! 🙂

I want to say the Kirkland THANKS SOO MUCH for that wonderful product that are 100% vegan and NO animal testing……..!!!!! :):):)

  14. Just tried the conditioner, thought if I didn’t like it would just return it and these are my thoughts so far, I have used it twice since Sunday.
    1. First off it is very thick, comes out of the pump slowly
    2. The smell is VERY strong, flowery smelling, which would turn me off normally, but my Husband likes it, so I am willing to TRY to get used to it..
    3. I have a very slight curl to my hair and that was enhanced a little
    4. Next day my hair was still soft but not oily
    5. Feels very moisturized
Overall I think I will like it, if I can get used to the SMELL!

  15. Whitney says:

So I have a very sensitive scalp also, I’ve got celiac’s so the gluten free part is something I’m always worried about. Anyone else have this problem and have used these products?!

  16. i just tried this product and if you have any allergies to certain things i would not use this. i do not have many allergic reations to things but i am going on day 3 with feeling like my head is on fire from using this once. i have tried to wash it away with my regular brand and it doesnt seem to be woking.

  17. Ruth Laino says:

I was looking all over for this product. I use to use all Kirkland products. I love it. Especially the shampoo and conditioner. Please send me some samples please.

  18. Miss Jacks says:

I have been using this shampoo and conditioner for years. I love it! My hair is not greasy or waxy after use. I think it smells fresh and the best part is it is not tested on animals.
