Costco Christmas Trees 2014

Costco Christmas Trees

There are a few different Christmas trees at Costco this year. You can get a fresh cut noble fir at several locations, and pre-lit Christmas trees at all locations. The 2012 artificial Costco Christmas trees brought about the color choice trees, and now that is your only option. Color choice means you can choose whether you want the tree to be multi-colored or white, or you can have it alternate between the two. The prices have gone up a little bit, but are still very reasonable considering what you get. You also get a few less bulbs than in the past, probably to make up for the fact that the bulbs have both colors in them and therefore are more costly to make.

In my opinion these trees are totally worth getting. You can see my 2011 Costco Christmas trees review or 2012 Costco Christmas trees review if you want to compare what they carried in the past and what I thought of those. The 7.5′ and 9′ artificial trees will likely sell out very quickly, so hurry on over to Costco if you have not gotten a tree yet. The same goes with the fresh cut noble firs.

Fresh Cut Noble Fir

Fresh Cut Noble Fir

7′ – 8′ Fresh Cut Noble Fir Christmas Tree $44.99 (Item #351892)

  • Live tree
  • Shipped in from Oregon
  • Cut down within the week
  • Farm grown
  • Carried only at select locations

The live Christmas trees are trucked in, and sell out quickly as well, due to their great price. Looking back at old posts I see the prices have not risen at all since at least 2011. You have to buy the tree wrapped, which is kind of odd, since most would want to pick out their exact tree, but you just have to trust that all the trees are great. Worst case scenario Costco has a pretty good return policy. Did you get a Costco tree this year? Does it meet your expectations?

I bought our christmas tree at Costco last year and it was great. This year the trees in Virginia cost $28.99. Which is an incredible deal for a 6-7′ tree. As you mention the only downfall is the inability to preview the tree prior to purchasing but it won’t stop me from getting it again at Costco.

I bought a tree from Costco in Marlboro NJ on Rt 9. The tree is a death trap, dried out completely(kindling wood) The trees are kept indoors no water, I unwrapped it and 1/2 the pine needles fell off. I returned it and spoke to the manager telling her how dangerous these can be. Bottom line they are still selling them. CORPORATE GREED at it’s finest.

I too bought a cut tree from Costco in Wayne, NJ. I can’t tell you how many needles have dropped. it’s raining buckets of needles and as I sit here I can hear the sound of needles falling. very disappointed that costco would sell trees that are dry and dead, not to mention the fire hazard. despite giving the required fresh cut and water, the tree appears to be cut down some months ago or stored in high heat conditions that would cause it to be so dry and dead.
Costco is usually great, not sure what happened this year but never have I had a tree this bad in over 32 years.

We got one in the Tampa area for $29.99. The thing is HUGE!!!! yes a lot of needles fell, and i cut some dead branches at the bottom, which i’d do anyways. Its sucking up alot of water still after a few days. We are filling up the container 2-3 times a day.

Going to build a gallon jug siphon system to maintain it.

but its thick, green, and looks great.

Maybe a good idea to water the tree before unwrapping so it can drink water and maybe save some falling needles.
